John Horner, His Contributions to California Agriculture

cover john hornerBy Lorenn K. Hansen

In a Boston newspaper John Horner was called “The greatest farmer in California.” Horner was an unknown when he went to California, eight years prior to the article. And California also was poorly known and the remote ends of the earth from Boston at the time. Now, Gleason’s was extolling the great agricultural riches of California and displaying the caption and woodcut engraving of Horner. It may have been a well deserved title. This booklet tells the story. (50 pages)
