Tri-City History: Street Names

A monthly column in the Tri-City Voice

In 2022, we shared many historic photos showing life in the Tri-City of yesteryear. In 2023, the column returns with a new theme: Street Names! Each month, we’ll cover the history behind one of our familiar local streets

No. 1: January 31, 2023: Decoto Road

No. 2: February 28, 2023: Mayhews Landing Road

Citadel of Southern Bay Transport for over 100 years, the ancient Mayhew Landing stands here for the camera during the Jarvis tenure around 1898. Looking north, the docks present an expanse of warehouses, sheds, lumber storage areas (to the right) to handle business that was not inconsiderable even in the declining years. Hay is loaded aboard the distant schooner soon to be maneuvered through the tight convolutions of the slough en route to San Francisco. Compare the photo with the map below.
